In cuisine, umami is the fifth flavor: sweet, salty, sour, savory, and umami. Umami is the delectable taste that spreads across your tongue, coating it. In Japanese, umami translates to “essence of deliciousness”. We believe the meaning of life can be found in flavor as each new and mouthwatering taste is an experience. Umami was founded in 2016. We bought 20 eighths of Miracle Alien Cookies (MAC) from a certain store because we heard there was a chance that a few grains of Thin Mint Cookie pollen found its way into that batch. We searched through every eighth to find 4 seeds. We grew out each seed and had one stand out keeper selection that we named MacMints (MAC x Thin Mint Cookie). We then femmed our MacMints cut and that became our first official breeding project. Nearly every Umami seed we have released since is an offspring from that original MacMint selection.

We collab with breeders who have flavors that we really like ourselves. Some of our favorite breeders to collab with are Super Seed Co, Sherbinski, Tiki Madman, and Grandiflora. We have many more collab projects in the works but will continue to release solo drops as well.

All Umami Seeds are tested for HLVD, Lettuce Sclerosis, Pythium, Tobacco Mosaic, Fusarium, and more by a third party state-of-the-art pathogen testing facility called Klean Bio. We sanitize with chlorine and even though we have never had an issue we continue to test for all pathogens every other week to ensure we always stay clean.
